Spatial distribution of extreme temperature indicators

Extreme characteristic temperatures (maximum, minimum, amplitudes, frosty days, frosty nights, winter days, summer days, tropical days, tropical nights) and thermal indicators (heat waves and cold waves) were calculated from the hourly gridded data set (Taer).

Heat values occur frequently in Romania in the plain areas of the south, east and west of the country (Figure 1). Thus, in 2012, between 12 and 16 cases were registered in the south of the Romanian Plain, and in 2017, between 4 and 6 cases were reported in large regions of the Oltenia Plain and the Banat Plain.
