The main objective of the project HiGridTemp is to create an enhanced and up-to-date gridded temperature dataset over Romania at the finest spatial and temporal scale available using combined ground-based and satellite products. In order to fulfil this goal, a spatio-temporal dataset at 1km×1km spatial resolution for the hourly air temperature will be constructed by integrating meteorological stations measurements, LST data retrieved from satellite imagery, and DEMs derived predictors. The project will be realized in several stages, having the following specific objectives:
- Quality control and homogenisation of the data sets by statistical tests applied for detecting suspicious values in the ground-based air temperature time series.
- Enhancing the remote sensing products by combining satellite and air temperature data from different sources and by filling the gaps in the LST time series based on different algorithms.
- Building enhanced hourly air temperature grids, by combining remote sensing products, DEM-based predictors and quality controlled and homogenized air temperature data sets.
